Nicaragua

We are home! My husband and I just spent a wonderful week in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua. The week was wonderful, but getting home was a nightmare. We left Nicaragua and flew into Atlanta. But not before we were searched head to toe multiple times. Yes, were padded down from head to toe twice. You know, standing spread eagle while some Nicaraguan searches you. A little uncomfortable, I must say. My husband had to take his shoes off while they took the insoles out to check in them too. Do we look like drug smugglers? When we arrived in Atlanta there was little time between flights so we ran, after going through customs, to our connecting flight. In customs you have to stand there while they stare at your picture a thousand times to make sure it is really you. And then ask you stupid questions. Why are you going to Utah? We live there. What do you do there? My husband told him. Then he turns to me and asks me what I do. I am a house wife. Really, enough already! We were both starving so the only thing we could find close was Wendys. We grabbed some hamburgers and fries and made it to the terminal. Then as we look at the board we notice that it doesn't say Salt Lake City. What? We panic. Come to find out the plane is delayed. Well, ok that gives us time to eat. Our plane was suppose to leave at 8:30. They kept delaying the time several more times. At this point I am starting to realize that something I ate was not agreeing with me. Usually, my stomach hurts a little while I am there, but this time I felt pretty good the whole time. This is are 3rd time to Nicaragua. It hits me pretty fast and I am off to the bathroom, yep, can I just say both ends. I was sooooo sick! I just wanted to die. Finally, at midnight they load us on the plane. We sat there for what seems to be forever, when they told us the flight was canceled and would not be leaving until the next day. It was pouring rain and lots of lightening. We run to try to be the first in line to get a hotel and re-book our tickets. Doing all this while I was sick as a dog. We have to take a 20 minute taxi drive to downtown Atlanta. Get to bed at around 3 in the morning, just to wake up at 7:00 to drive back to the airport. Feeling a tiny bit better, basically saying that it was only coming out one end. Do you get me? We get to the airport and find out our plane is delayed again. But, this time only about 45 minutes. Yes, I was one of those people sprawled out on the seats sound a sleep. I felt like I was hit by a truck. We get on the plane where I concentrate hard on not throwing up the entire time. I was never so happy to see home. We go to get our luggage and it is not there. I almost starting laughing. A perfect end to a crazy trip. They told us it would be on the next flight coming in. We could wait or just have it delivered sometime. We waited. I can just say I am very thankful to be home and see our wonderful children. And a big thank you to my mother in law for taking such good care of them while we were gone. More to come, but for now I am just trying to recover.
